Ülker's Turnover Reaches 5.2 Billion TL

Turkey’s leading food company, Ülker Biscuits increased its turnover 15.7% to 5.2 billion TL in the first half of 2021. The company’s Turkish operations grew 15.8%, and its export and foreign operations grew 15.6%.
In a statement sent to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), Ülker Biscuit announced that its turnover in the first half of 2021 had reached 5.2 billion TL, an increase of 15.7% compared to the same period of the previous year. The company’s Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization (EBITDA) was 809 million TL.
Ülker’s CEO Mete Buyurgan stated that Ülker Biscuits had continued its stable growth despite the challenges of the pandemic period, adding: “We continued to contribute to our economy with our exports, employment and investments. In the first half of the year, our company’s Turkish operations increased by 15.8% and our overseas operations increased by 15.6% compared to last year. As a result of our sensitivity and successful work during the pandemic period, we increased our turnover 15.7% in the first half of the year, with our share of export and overseas operations making up 39.4% of total turnover.
Stating that they continue to work to be a strong player in the region, Buyurgan added that they have maintained their leadership in the biscuit markets of Saudi Arabia and Egypt, and their strong growth trend in Kazakhstan and Central Asia is continuing.
Investments in sustainability, R&D and digitalization drive our business
Buyurgan also underlined that they continued to produce and meet demands during the pandemic, and that during this time they paid even more attention to sustainability, R&D and digitalization. He added, “Since our establishment, we have followed the principle of being a ‘waste-free company’, and we are taking important steps with our sustainability practices and projects. In line with our vision of sustainable growth, we have actualized many innovative projects in the fields of R&D, innovation and digitalization. For example, our IoT Instant Production Monitoring Project uses sensors to instantly monitor the performance of production lines. We closely follow the development of technology, especially IoT and Industry 4.0. We follow supply chain processes end-to-end, and track consumer behavior and trends. We care about digitalization and see sustainability as the key to the way we do business”.
