ŞOK Marketler distributed the products in its stores located in the disaster area to the people free of charge and in collaboration with relevant relief agencies and transported some basic necessities to the victims from its warehouses in neighboring areas. Uğur Demirel: “We will continue contributing to the economy and employment.”
Commenting on the matter, ŞOK Marketler CEO Uğur Demirel remarked: “We continue acting in solidarity with our people and contributing to our business and country to relieve our wounds together since the deeply-saddening earthquake disaster. Starting from the first day, we took it as our duty to support the local people and our employees affected by the earthquake. We quickly moved our employees in the region and their families to safe settlement areas. We sent thousands of supply boxes to the victims, mobilizing all our means to help the recovery process in the region. Particularly in grocery purchases, we prioritize the producers in the disaster area. We collected approximately 200 tons of lemons that grew ripe in the orchards in the town of Arsuz in Hatay with the producers and purchased them. Thus, we prevented them from rotting on the branches and provided some income to the local farmers. On the other hand, we will prioritize earthquake victims who meet relevant qualifications in all our recruitment processes across the country throughout this year. We believe we will leave these challenging days behind by joining forces with our nation.”
