Initiated with fruit and vegetable production in 2019, the collaboration between ŞOK Marketler and the Tarım Kredi Cooperatives of Turkey has reached over TRY 120 million in volume, with the addition of agriculture-based dry food products. With the additional protocol signed between the two parties, the variety and number of products purchased from member farmers has increased.

Uğur Demirel: “We continue to support farmers and local production.”

Noting that they will continue to support farmers and local production through this strategic collaboration, ŞOK Marketler CEO Uğur Demirel said: “With our ‘Good Agriculture from Farm to Table’ project launched in 2019, we support local production and hundreds of farmers in various provinces, from Bursa to Antalya, Tokat, and Adana. Thanks to our collaboration with the Tarım Kredi Cooperatives of Turkey, farmers can continue their production without worrying about the sales and are rewarded in due proportion to their efforts in a timely manner. We supervise all processes from the choice of healthy seeds to harvesting, always providing our customers with fresh, high-quality, and affordable products right at the local ŞOK Marketler store nearby. We deliver affordable products of the highest-quality to our customers uninterruptedly, contributing to their purchasing power, while also supporting farmers.”

Dr. Fahrettin Poyraz: “Empowering farmers means empowering consumers”

As the largest farmers’ organization of Turkey with its 17 district unions, 1,622 cooperatives, 17 companies and 850 thousand partners, the Agricultural Credit Cooperatives is committed to enabling Turkey to meet its entire agricultural demand through local production. Pointing to the importance of maintaining continuity in agricultural production, Tarım Kredi Cooperatives General Manager Dr. Fahrettin Poyraz commented:“We develop projects aimed at rewarding farmers in due proportion to their labor and utilizing the available cultivable lands of our country. Contract-based production is among the models to which we attach the greatest importance.” Noting that they intend to further advance the contract-based model through collaborations, Dr. Poyraz announced their goals as follows: “We will continue to increase the variety and number of products we purchase. As part of our product assessment operations, our goal for 2020 was to purchase 600 thousand tons of products for TRY 2.5 billion. We managed to reach that goal. TRY 1 billion of this amount was used for purchasing products produced by contract. For 2021, our goal is to purchase products for a total of TRY 3.7 billion, with TRY 1.5 billion of it to be spent on products obtained through contract production.”
