Through this collaboration of social responsibility, visits to GODIVA stores and Godiva.com.tr between March 8 and 14 mean a significant contribution to the girls studying at Darüşşafaka.

About the legend of Lady Godiva:
The legend of Lady Godiva is a story about both passion and compassion. The story goes like this: In the 11th century, the citizens of Coventry, England were protesting against the heavy taxation. Lady Godiva, wife of Lord Leofric who was responsible for the heavy taxation, took sides with the public. She tried to convince her husband to lift the tax burden. Bothered by the insistence of his wife, Lord Leofric makes an offer to her, assuming that she would never accept it. He would lift the tax burden if Lady Godiva rode through the streets of Coventry “clad in naught but her long tresses.” Assuming that Lady Godiva would not dare to do such a thing, the Lord thought his wife would finally give up. However, the following morning Lady Godiva confidently and solemnly made her famous ride. The citizens graciously stayed inside, bringing all curtains down to protect her honor. They showed their respect to this bold act by closing their eyes. Lord Leofric kept his word and reduced the taxes. Since then, Lady Godiva’s boldness, resolution, purity, passion, and beauty have inspired many artists. The legend of Lady Godiva is still alive today both in GODIVA chocolates and the memories of those who have been impressed by her.
